All the HUGE states are done with Texas. And yes, the further east you go, the more populated the states become, but as you pointed out, there's only so much they can add to each state, due to the scale. ETS2 covers areas with similar population densities, and it still has open gaps in the map. It's a video game, not Google Maps.
American Truck Simulator (ATS) is a truck simulator game developed and published by SCS Software. It was announced on September 6, 2013 [1] and released on February 2, 2016 [2]. More people have ETS2, and hence more players. I noticed ATS is at about 3,000 players when checking Steam Charts right now, and ETS2 is at almost 30,000. Those numbers refer to the actual numer of players in each game at the time you looked. The number of players for each game is *significantly* higher than those figures. Both base games cost the same and so do their DLCs, so the best value would be the bundles with lots of map expansions. Look into the Map Booster bundle for ETS 2, or the Pacific Northwest bundle for ATS, they’re probably the best deals for the trucksim games, especially with the summer sale discount

THERE ARE 3 REQUIRED FILES, THE MAP AND DEF FILES ARE DOWNLOADED TOGETHER, THE MODELS/ASSETS ARE A SEPERATE DOWNLOAD, THIS BEING DONE TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR THOSE WITH A LITTLE SLOWER INTERNET. They're 98% the same game. ETS2 has more variation in the maps due to multiple countries. I like both of them but typically enjoy driving the American trucks more than the euro cab overs. But I will alternate every once and a while. There are plenty of videos of both games now to get a good idea what what you're in for and the gameplay is going to be mostly the same. What isn't can probably be changed with mods. Euro truck has more content, ATS looks prettier and is much more detailed. ATS has a demo out right now. American Truck Sim IMO. az7xR.
