I've seen some threads on KLR vs KTM 690 or 790 or whatever, but price-wise the 390 adventure seems like the more direct comparison. The bigger KTMs are out of my budget. Yet, these two seem do be the closest to true do-it-all machines. On the other hand, 390 is considerably lighter. Ryan F9 reviewed the 390ADV and concluded that you should just buy the 390 duke instead. His reason was that the seat/peg/handlebar ergos are NOT conducive to ADV riding, so its really just a dressed up duke for an extra $1k+. KTM 790 Duke long term review, second report. KTM Bikes. No aches, no pains, no questions asked of the 790 Adventure that it didn’t answer with a giant tick. Perhaps the most interesting number is the fuel consumption; 58mpg average. That’s really impressive given the speeds and the manner of the riding. It also gives a tank range of close-on 300 miles from 20 litres. Wow.
