I've seen some threads on KLR vs KTM 690 or 790 or whatever, but price-wise the 390 adventure seems like the more direct comparison. The bigger KTMs are out of my budget. I know there's not really such a thing as one bike that can do everything, especially in the sub-$9k price range. Yet, these two seem do be the closest to true do-it-all machines.
On the other hand, 390 is considerably lighter. Ryan F9 reviewed the 390ADV and concluded that you should just buy the 390 duke instead. No aches, no pains, no questions asked of the 790 Adventure that it didn’t answer with a giant tick. Perhaps the most interesting number is the fuel consumption; 58mpg average. That’s really impressive given the speeds and the manner of the riding. It also gives a tank range of close-on 300 miles from 20 litres. Wow.
