From the drop, let them wander into a water current which then moves them horizontally into your holding area under a two-block ceiling. Place a cobweb block above their heads. Place a trapdoor above their heads, and toggle it open periodically (with a redstone clock) to let new mobs in. Steps to Reproduce: Obtain a damaged item. Enchant the item with Mending. Summon some experience orbs far from the player. Switch to Survival mode. Move towards the experience orbs while holding the Mending item. Observed Results: The experience sometimes goes to the experience bar and sometimes to the item. This makes it very obvious as the XP orbs will float upstream if they started with momentum in that direction. They will all just stop in the flowing water stream where their momentum runs out. The items on the other hand are very quickly accelerated in the direction of the water flow regardless of starting momentum.
Vanilla tip: in 1.13+, furnaces store their xp. Just grow bamboo, break it with pistons, hopper it into a furnace, and when you need to get some of that xp just lock the input hopper and remove an item from the output slot. The mod "Charm" reduces anvil XP repair cost and gives you ways of increasing tool durability so your XP lasts longer.
In Minecraft, each level takes a certain amount of experience points to level up to the next level ( see the Experience by Level table below ). You start out at Level 0 and as you get to higher levels in the game, it will take even more experience points to reach the next level. For example, it takes 7 experience points to go from Level 0 to Go the end and build a platform out of stone at least 3x3 one block above your head. Stand under it and stare at all the Endermen around you. You are protected under your roof as the Endermen can't reach you but you can easily kill them. Make sure you use blocks they can't steal. I've got a mob farm set up, and I have the XP going into an Ultimate Fluid Tank. There's a series of Ultimate Mechanical Pipes leading into an XP Solidifier from there, which then connects to a container and is put into my Grid. The XP won't move from the tank to the Solidifier. I've tried using the Configurator to put the pipes in push and
