If you’re unlucky enough for the DPF sensors to fail then we’d suggest reaching out to the VW forums or a friendly garage for assistance. Everywhere I read it states that a regen may be triggered when required when the car is doing a set amount of time at a fast speed eg 80km/hr for 10 minutes. The regeneration that happens at > 80 km/hr is a PASSIVE regeneration. It does NOT require extra fuel to get the particulates to burn. NB it is load related, not exact speed or RPM.
