Even a camera better optimized for video production could use some help getting rigged up. Compact options need a bit more help. Today we are checking out the Canon EOS R5 C which, thanks to a design based on a mirrorless camera, could use some extra bits and pieces to make the shooting experience a bit more streamlined. The oldest ones that do 1080/60 are the 7DII and 80D. If you don't need 4K, the 80D is a terrific DSLR video solution, with 1080/60, full Dual Pixel Auto Focus, a "flippy" screen, a 3x "crop" mode for closeup and telephoto, both a headphone and a microphone jack, and compatibility with Canon's STM video-friendly lenses. Dividing this by eight gives 12.5 MB/s. A 128GB memory card is the equivalent of about 128,000 MB. Therefore, this memory card will take 10,240 seconds to fill (128,000 / 12.5). Converting this to hours (dividing by 3600) means that a 100Mbit/s bit rate video would take 2 hours 50 minutes to fill a 128GB memory card.

If you can find that, the live view (and movie-making) button is the one with the silver camera icon just to the left of the viewfinder eyepiece. Video top. THere is no continuous autofocus while shooting video. THe 5D Mark III does not replace a camcorder! (see page 226.) I prefer my real camcorder for home movies.

Yes, Canon 5D Mark IV indeed shoot high definition video in 4k. It was really surprising how easily the lens adapts itself to different subjects. For example, I was able to use it to take close up shots of my daughter playing with a ball. I also found that the lens is very flexible and can capture even distant shots without any problems.

After the simple point-and-shoot approach, photographing star trails requires more patience and a little more astronomical skill. Star trails form interesting arcs around the star Polaris.
This can be very helpful when shooting foggy landscapes. The amount of the ALO adjustment can be set to: Off (0), Low (1), Standard (2) or Strong (3).
